I fished the Neshannock Creek right behind the fly shop on Friday. I came there and saw a few caddis coming off and a few splashes. I tied on a caddis emerger. First cast... chub! that's semi disapointing. Second cast, 9" fresh stockie... not bad. I cast the emerger for a little while then tied on my newest fly creation, a black nymph with 4-5 marabou strands for a tail and a flashback the whole length of the back segmented into 3 sections and 2 goose biots in black tied back like on a prince... I liked it... caught 3 12-14" rainbows on it in the next 30 min. Nice sized fish there. they were cruizing all around and a little bit of top water action. Tried bead head hares ears, egg patterns, wooley buggers, etc and only caught one more on a BHHE. The fishing turned off once the sun went down but landed 5 fish in 2.5 hours... not too bad. I'm sure it got pounded on Saturday, being the first weekend after the stocking, so the fish are probably a bit spookier than when I fished it. My buddy fished it the day before me in the morning and landed 10+ fish in 2 hours. All were rainbows and a good amount of breeders. Had 2 nice sized males with the jaw's starting to hook on them. Beautiful stream and a nice day of fishing.
