Stevie-B invited me out on Saturday for real good day on Muddy Creek. The water levels were were not too low as it had rained a few days earlier. Beautiful clear sunny day and was a little worried the bright skies and low fall water would slow things up for us. Air temps were in the upper 60's when we arrived mid morning and pushed into the upper 70's when we left later in the afternoon. The water was gin clear and 60 degrees.
We started off fishing by the Pines and made our way up to the turn with the big rocks. I started off with a Griffy Nat and then switched over to a caddis. Wide selection of bugs in the air: caddis, slate drakes, small may flies and a few terrestrials seen coming by. Plenty of risers in the stream coming up. Came across a nice stretch of water that the trout we especially active and looked to be taking a small mayfly. Switched over to #20 BWO and did very well after that for the rest of the day. Caught a good number of holderovers and plenty of smaller looking wild brown trout. I put on a #12 Adams for grins walking back to the car and got into a couple more.
Bonus rounds with an eagle and osprey doing fly overs for us. Pictures coming soon.
