Muddy Creek, York County, 5/27/16

I fished the upper section from about 7am to 11am. Landed 7 and missed a couple others on a variety of flies, Al's Rat, Lively Legz black nymph, GW and BWO.

I have pics in photobucket but it don't want to cooperate. When I stopped at Toms Run a doe and her fawn were standing in the creek behind the old railroad bridge.

How do you get to the upper part of this creek? I've only ever been able to find the parking lot where the FFO begins

The creek begins at the confluence of the North and South Branches of Muddy Ck, located at Muddy Creek Forks. To the upper end of the FFO, drive up the dirt road from your parking area and turn left at the T intersection. Park at the trail head and walk in.

Here is the actual directions form the lower to upper wire.

As Mike said drive up the dirt road (piney hill rd)to the T. Turn left onto Kennedy Road. Take Kennedy down the hill over Toms Run and then Up again to a quick left onto Bruce Road. Take Bruce Road in about a mile or so to a hairpin bend. Park at the bend. Don't go to the bottom of the hill. The trail head is right there.

I presume Muddy is too warm to fish right now. Wait till there a couple/few days of night time temps in the 50s and highs in the 70s. That will bring the temps back to fishable levels

Even the small wild streams are gonna feel the stress of late.

Yes, Maurice is correct. It has been a while for me, so I did not recall the second T and second left to get on Bruce Rd.

Better fishing up there? Thursday I was at the lower section and was able to only get one brown and saw very little action or fish anywhere

It's likely the water temp thats giving you problems vs the location. When the water temp rises above 70 degrees, as it most certainly did with the oppressive heat we experienced this week, fish metabolism slows in order to survive and they are less interested in feeding.

If you are fishing Muddy Ck I suggest that at this time of the year you head for the stocked and cooler section of its South Branch or seek out some fishing in the wild trout stretches above.
