Muddy Creek, York County, 2012/10/20

Fritz and I canoed from Bridgeton to Woodbine for six hours fishing streamers mostly looking for big fish in all our haunts. We found very few takers but numerous risers that would seem to get lost when we changed over.

We picked up a few in the fly area but ran out of time. There were lots of caddis late int he day. Water was stained from the thunderstorms and the level up a bit making for a nice leaf hatch.

The trip was a fabulous light show of autumn. Enjoy!

Nice pix, beautiful color, but I don't see any fish? Just hands in the water..... in the one pic.

Is that you or Fritz in the pic?

Only the mods seem to post now? I would love to see a report (with pix) posted from pete41, or FarmerDave, or Sasquatch, or Stagger, or Lone, even PhishOn (the guy I sold a fly rod to a few months ago)

Quiet little one-
Pictures like that are INFINITELY more interesting than any fish shots.Any,repeat any fish shots since they are just another fish once they are landed.Little noted and quickly forgotten but the best mother nature has to offer will live with you forever.

Very well said Pete. It was just a beautiful day. Maurice kept reminding me to look at the "color on the water". Lotsa fun. Embedded in my pea brain forever.....

Here is one Fritz caught, not five inches and pretty ugly but they were very soft hitters yesterday and it was brought to hand. This week it was a handful of rainbows as opposed to last when browns were the dominant catch.

Think I am going down today for a few hours to see if I can get those risers. I think they are the browns.

A friend and I enjoyed the fall beauty on Muddy Creek today in the fly stretch. Water very clear but probably up a little from recent rains. Major leaf hatch underway. We caught a lot of the recently stocked rainbows on buggers and a white marabou muddler. Most fish are badly damaged from hatchery raceways. Stubby fins, worn off noses and lower jaws. Caught a couple small wild browns. Saw a few caddis but only a couple rises. No luck fishing an elk hair caddis in the fast water. Several other guys fishing.
