Fished the upper fly area from 11-4. One fella was quitting as I began. Water temp 44-46, coming down from a 200cfs surge from recent rain but very clear. Windy but not too bad, had to stall when the gusts came.
Started fishing downstream with a hackle wing streamer, no dice. Switched over to an electric wool variety and picked up a bow on a dead drift twitch. Then decided the pool was too slow for that so switched to beadheads tandem and started hooking up. A little flash in the flies was a consistent producer, switched up quite a bit with most results coming from a pheasant tail with a little flash at the bead and a pink thread turn or two at the bend.
Good mix of browns and bows with a couple over 15" and one 9" wildie. Fish were holding in the slack water.
had a mink visit the first productive pool. a nice diversion.
Its gonna get cold this week, Monday during the snow would be a great time to fish and maybe the last chance before the cold snap.
Creek is in great shpae, fish finally biting this fall. Get out there.
