Spent the warm spot of the day along Muddy Creek. Fished from 11:30 til about 3:00pm. Picked up 13 trout, ten wildies and three stocked. One wild fish was full of eggs. Saw a few caddis but I used slate drake drys in the pools and wolly buggers in the pocket water. Caught more on drys but the bigger fish were on the bugger. Here are some pics. The stocked fish are easy to pick out here. Awesome day, no wind, warm sun, dry feet, and I chased an eagle upstream for about a mile. It must ahve been watching me fish. every time I would turn a bend it would take out of the trees and go upstream. Happened three or four times.

I almost hit a small 6 point at 10:30 am driving to the crik. I was driving along loking for risees and looked up and it was racing across the road right in front of the car.

Maurice,

Nice fish! How was the wate level after last weeks rain?

Steve,

It wasn't much higher but it was moving faster...if that makes sense. That is to say, there is still a little riverbed showing. Because of the long dry spell or rather the rain prior to it, there are alot of gravel deposits and built-up pointbars that until the next big storm event will keep the channel narrower, and deeper. I fished the same area 3 weeks ago and did very poorly. There was very little water. This last rain seemed to snap the creek out of its summer funk.

In a word...Better.

Nice fish.
Last time I was there I caught my share and was impressed with the color. Caught one nice brown too.
The fish you landed are nice.

Im headed there tomorrow for a bit. If I keep walking the creek below the forks downstream, does it run into some good water?
Ok with access? I mean private property?

how did you make out in Hatteras this year?
We found it tough.

Glad to see MC is turning into a pretty good fishery with spawning and all.

Maurice,

Great pix and great report, as always!! The third pic brings back many wonderful 06' and 07' memories for me. In that exact spot, pool, I have caught so many trout, I know exactly where you were standing when you took the pic ....... usually with a nymph, but a couple on drys.

I release all the trout I catch. A couple of those trout look very familiar to me!! LOL The one seems to be thinking "where is the Woolybugger? he hasn't been here for a while, I miss hitting his hares ears"

It's a small, small world!
