Met a buddy around 3:30 pm at the upper fly area. Water was running at 225 and had a stain in the pools. He wanted to sharpen his streamer game and the conditions cooperated. We swung streamers, rubber legged bugger for him and a Mickey Finn for me. The trout did not disappoint. Caught fish pretty much all the way down through the middle of the grade change. I switched over to a nymphing combo past Toms run and continued to bring fish to hand with stoneflies and green bead head caddis.
Good sulphur and tan caddis hatch happening from four to seven pm. Both around a #16. Not a lot of risers and although the egg laying sulphur spinners showed around 7:30p the trout never came up. But I expect this will change and the fishing in evening will be productive.
It’s go time friends, go get em.
