Wanted to finally get out for some fishing in 2013 without putting a lot of effort into it so headed over to Muddy Creek yesterday. Fished from about 10:30 to 1:30. Water was surprisingly low and clear for this time of year. No bugs in the air. Usually start to see some stoneflies at this time of year. I parked at the lower end of the FFO and my way just about to the upper end before fishing back. I did well on an olive wooly bugger (surprise, surprise) however all the fish I caught came from the middle section of pocket water. Swinging the bugger through likely holding spots produced fish. Not a hit above the mouth of Tom’s Run and nothing from the big bend in the stream on down. Didn’t see a single fish in the Blue Rock hole.

If you want to fish this stream before it receives a spring stocking be prepared to walk up into the middle pocket water to find fish. I was entertained by some mink and a bald eagle. Thought the eagle was a positive omen for the football team with that name but it didn’t work out.

Has anyone been out to Muddy Creek recently? I’m thinking of taking a day off this week to fish the stream. I’d like to drive up to central PA but kids baseball starts this week so time is somewhat limited.
