Made my way over to Muddy Creek Saturday morning and met up with Slay for some Fly fishing and photaging. Stopped off first to see Maurice get working with the guys over at the Muddy Creek TU hatchery.
The day was mostly sunny with air temps pushing towards 50 and the water at 40 degrees. Put a lot out there in the early morning with buggers, beadheads, streamers and midges. Nothing really seemed to move until after 11:00. I found some rainbows and browns on a San Juan Worm and just nymphed fished that through the mid-day. We did see a few little black stone flies.
Not surprising most of the trout were in the slower deeper pools and not very quick to be set when they did go after the SJW. I guess if my core body temp was at 40 I wouldn't move to fast either.
Really a pleasant day for January. Fun to catch up with Slay and geek out on some some photag stuff. Maurice came by as we were packing up at the cars proceeded to harassed us, leak some radiator fluid on us and then left to go fishing somewhere else.
