Muddy Creek FFO, York Co. 1/30/13

Fished the upper section of the FFO section from about 10A til the rain came about 330P or so. Caught a mix of bows and browns throughout using prince and stonefly nymphs, streamers and ipw. Water temp was 40 to 41F. Color was just right for streamers and that was the most productive. Saw a few black stoneflies sz 16 and 18.

That creek is such a wonderful place to fish. That is so great that you are catchin' in the middle of winter.

When this high water settles down, and my new waders arrive, I'll be making a few trips there myself.

I love Muddy FFO...... from the Hemlocks to the yellow cable at the top..... that is some beautiful water!

I was gonna fish up top, but decided on the lower section, so I guess there were people out yesterday.

I wanted to get there earlier had to do my taxes though. Definately saw more fish than I caught.

Good to hear someone did better than me, I think the unnexpected soaking lowered my game and enthusiasm a bit.

Jake, good to see that people were out on the FFO taking advantage of that warm weather. The FFO has seen a lot of activity this past year. It's a rare day that I go down there and don't see someone at either end. I frequently talk to anglers from Lancaster County and have seen license plates from MD and DE parked at the lower end. York County ranked no. 2 in trout stamp sales last year so it is not surprising to me to see flyfishers take advantage of that two mile stretch.

Flyfishing guys will utilze the hell out of a stream when there are good regs to keep fish there year round. I wish more waters around the state had similar regs to Muddy.
