High stained water. If any hatches, it was too windy and stained to tell.
I had a wonderful time though. I caught 16 the first day and 11 the second day. I fished approx 3 hrs each day from 3pm until 6pm.
All trout caught on a olive or black woolybugger. The couple big browns were caught on a size 4 smallmouth fly!!
Sometimes a split shot a couple feet above the unweighted fly, but most were caught with floating line and a unweighted bugger just under the surface of the brown water. Simply amazing that a trout can see a streamer on top in the dirty water....... I've come to the conclusion that trout always look to the top of the water column. They must swim 4" under the surface in a current break waiting for food to arrive.
I released all the fish, like I always do and I never give exact locations.
I used a 9' 5wt Sage FLi with a SLA reel and Sharkskin WF 5wt floating line with a 4X flouro leader.
This is my first "stream report" in quite a while. No special spots, no burning of spots.
I wish a lot more would post stream reports / with pix. I will if you guys will! I flyfish all the time, and I could post 5 stream reports with pix every week!! As soon as I see a stream report with pix, I will post 3 stream reports with wonderful pix!!
Just like "more cowbells" I've got a fever and cowbells are the only cure!
