Mud Run 4/12/20

This is my first post. I will try to be as thorough as possible

Fished Mud Run Sunday for 3 1/2 hours around 10 am. I drove up from Chester County since I love this water. Weather was crisp around 40 degrees when I arrived. Mud run was crystal clear so if there were any fish in the various pool and pockets I fished, I am sure that I would have seen them.

Guessing the water was around 50 degrees. Very little hatch activity although I did see a few coming off the water however I could not tell what they were given how few were hatching.

Started above Hawk Falls and worked my way west about 1 mile. I had no luck other than one small strike just above the fallsl. Tried a variety of nymphs at varying depths in the water.

Didn't see another soul on the stream the entire time. Not sure if anyone has been there over the last week with a different report

West, as in downstream from Hawk Falls? How'd you get through/around that first corner hole below the TPike bridge to keep moving downstream? I have never been able to figure out a plan for that that didn't involve a reasonable chance of falling trying to scale the rock faces, or drowning. Or both.

Also, if you weren't seeing fish, but were wading downstream in clear water conditions, there's a good chance they spotted you and were spooked. Better to fish upstream, when you can, especially in clear water.

I'm going to guess it's not stocked yet, at least not around Hawk Falls.

It's gorgeous water but the fishing is not good IMO. Natives further upstream but the public section is tough.

I'll PM you another access point that OutforTrout told me about. Typically always fish there.

FYI, that secret access place always hold fish. It also fishes better with higher water. The section up here by 534 is fishing much better now that it has a little stain to it : )

Yesterday there were blue quills and a few caddis coming off most of the afternoon. Quite a few risers, every riser I saw I hooked. One native brook, one wild brown and 5 or 6 stocked browns. Fished about 1 hour. Nother fellow had the choice spot for the day and he was catching them continually. DHALO section.
