I visited Mountain Creek today in search of wild/holdover fish and primarily to get away from the crowds on other more famous streams. I managed seven browns-some were definitely wild and some were obviously stocked. I also caught several brookies-one was beautifully colored while the other two looked like bland hatchery products. The fish were actively rising so I tied on a #14 Foam Yellow Jacket pattern and never looked back. I had the best success in shaded riffled areas and pocket water. In addition to the fish I caught, I saw plenty more that evaded me and my attempts to catch them. This trip is a testament to the notion that you don't have to go to special reg areas to encounter fine fishing. This was the first time that I fished this part of the creek, and will not be the last. I posted some pics down below so enjoy.
