Fished the monocacy creek from the park at illicks mill down to the closed railroad bridge about 500 yards downstream from there from 6am until 12. The steps in the park were crazy, people packed shoulder to shoulder like it was opening day. Water was extremely clear except for some deep pools farther down the stream, water temp in the 50's to 60's later in the day. weather clear and sunny. Caught one brownie in a riffle on a caddis pupae. Walked back up to the steps later in the day and was talking to another fly fisherman who caught 5 big rainbows on size 16 hares ear nymphs. seemed like that was the nymph to use that day. Also, there were no hatches to be noted the entire time i was out there. I did, however, see a couple rises. My best guess is they were hitting on some of the terrestrials out there, brown and black.
I apologize beforehand if this isn't what ya'll are looking for. It's my first time posting on the site and I figured i'd give it a shot. thanks ya'll.
