Monocacy Creek Illicks Mill (almost daily) report

Water is clear, cool, and falling. No mayfly activity, but some black caddis.

Took browns to hand, and one threw the hook, from some pocket water on #16 Lafontaine Sparkle Caddis.

Glad to hear that the sparkle pupa got some attention. I'm curious what color bubble you're using.

I haven't been out lately so no new news from me.

I too fish on my lunch break which has increased my laundry expenses. I get in and out of my waders quickly so I pretty much suit up. Not too much of an issue now that I'm a landlord and don't have as much time to be the fishaholic that I used to be.

I don't use flyshop antron, but "plastic canvas yarn" from Walmart. It sure looks like Antron, and works as well when you comb it out.

The bubble is tan, the body is composed of brown dubbed to the thread, and a white trailing shuck.

Four browns from 2:30 to 3:30 on a rust-brown size 14 hare's ear and a 16 green brassie.

Water looked great, but didn't take the temp. Few caddis in the air as I was leaving.

Wonder if I can get back for a bit after work...

Last three days were mostly busts. The water has been higher than usual, and there's been little insect life in the afternoon.

My ususal spot has been completely devoid of the little browns (I figure they're either native or holdovers), but I did take a stocked rainbow earlier today on a rust-brown hare's ear.

No one else has taken anything while I've been there.
