It was a day for the record books. 42 degrees in late Dec and no more snow to melt with rain swollen streams returning to normal flows.
I'm sure I hooked 50 fish yesterday, though I probably landed 20 or less. There were times I was hooking up with every cast. I decimated my Erie fly box. There are many steelhead adoned with fine jewelry from my box, and a few trees as well. Even with 2X tippet I was losing fish. I probably should have had the discipline to re-rig my tippet after every hook-up, but sadly I did not.
I fished with Squaretail and his entourage (two of his friends and his nephew). An excellent guide, Squaretail put his "clients" (me and his friends) on feeding fish all day long.
Sorry I have no pics for now. Hopefully Squaretail will have some to contribute when he gets back to his computer (He's fishing Erie again today, lucky dog!).
Large eggs and sucker spawn were doing well as were wooley buggers.
