Floated the Mid Yough from ACoE dam to Ramcat Run w/ Jim Geary (part of Laurel Highlands GS). Learned much- mostly that mid July tailwater trout will mess you up if you aren't at the top of your game. Missed many chances early- operator error. Managed 2 fish- 1 beautiful rainbow on a half-rabbit sized streamer, and another on a caddis emerger. Played with an 18" Pali for almost 2 hrs- got him to eat 4 times! 0-4, time to go back to the minors!
Saw some bugs- midges and caddis mostly but a few light mayflies in the size 10-12 range. Cahills?
Lots of fun, great education on a beautiful but demanding piece of water. A++ for LHGS (see their reports in Guide section). Sorry- no pics, too busy casting!
