Fished from 4:00 to 8:00 in both the special regs area and upstream of Dinnerbell Road.
WEATHER: 71 degrees partly cloudy
WATER: Water was in great shape, good flow with slight color. Water temp was 63 at 4:00.
BUGS: Caddis, lime sallies, crane flies, a few very large slate drakes and some spinners later, small cahills (I think).
FISH: Caught 8. All on top with slate drake para-dun size 12 and stimulator size 14. All were stocked rainbows except for this monster.
He took a the slate drake in a shallow run. I was stunned when he turned. I was expecting another cookie cutter rainbow. He took off upstream and had to scramble a bit to keep and stop him from going under a logjam. Because I never take pics and don't carry a net, I beached him, snapped a couple shots with my foot in the shot for scale. Then dropped my phone in the water! (That's one reason I never take pics of fish.) I quickly grabbed the phone and thought I had saved it in time since I was able to bring up the pics. Later found out my phone does not ring or vibrate. Ha! Anyway I figure he (or she) was 23 to 25 inches. Hard to tell in the shot since you can't see the tail. But my foot in 12 inches long. It was a VERY big brownie... even though stocked, fun to catch.
