Fished the McM Keystone select section from 8:00 am to 10:00. Water temp was 60, air temp low 70's and slightly overcast. This was my first time on this water and conditions were near ideal. I'm not sure what flows were as there are no gauges, but the BH was at 88 cfm so that could be a reference.
I observed no insect activity so I fished a beetle with a drowned ant dropper along the banks and other likely spots. No takers. Switched to a squirmy worm an PT and nymphed back to car. Again no takers. I know there are fish there, I just couldnt move any.
Drove over to BH and fished near Glen Park. Water temp at 10:30 was 62F. Fished the same nymph set up till noon or so. I did observe 2 or 3 light colored mayflies about #16 flying around and a bit more caddis about the same size but nothing significant. Caught 2 fallfish on the worm pattern. A little disappointed in that this was first time out in over a month in near perfect conditions with nothing to show for the effort.
I need to go back and further explore the McM Keystone section. It just looks "fishy"
Wonder if the full moon this week has impact? I know the feral cats around my place were partying it up big time last night.
