Marsh Creek Lake, Chester Co., 3/19/2011

I guess this isn't technically a stream report, but i think i've seen lake reports in there before. Anyway, i fished marsh creek lake friday and saturday this weekend for crappie. Didn't put up huge #'s but the ones i did catch were nice slabs. Friday i caught one that was 14-15 inches! I caught him on spinning gear, so i guess that doesn't count on fly fishing forums. Saturday i didn't catch a fish til i picked up the fly rod. I fished a tiny (bout the size of a fingernail) white crappie jig under a thingabobber and caught 3 nice crappies ranging from 10-11 inches. Water temp's in the mid 40's. It was kind of refreshing to fish for something other than trout right now, especially since everyone is crammed into special reg waters.

Good stuff. We certainly welcome reports on lakes and, at least in my opinion, could use some more warm water reports. I've done well on crappies lately too.

Springer, I had to fish after work on friday, so i just grabbed my waders and spinning gear. On saturday i had all day, so i took my kayak out along with the fly rod.
