Traveled from Lancaster to Pitt for work on Monday. Wanted to find the flyfishing section on Yellow Creek. Arrived at the spot per the map on this site and ended up in a private driveway - oops - quickly backtracked and foudn the fly fish parking - very nice. only had a half hour to fish - that compounded by all the beautiful (posted) water on the way to the stream, signs on where not to park, and signs on where to enter the stream got me a bit excited and confused. shoudl have done a bit more homework before winging it... Anyhow, hit maple run that runs into Yellow Creek and had some luck catching some brookies. Caddis coming off - used a caddis emerger under a BHPT. I was the only one there. DEFINITELY going back to hit Yellow Creek. Love the limestones of Lancaster and heard some great things about Yellow Creek - any insight on best approaches, spots to walk in, etc. are appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not exactly sure on this, but I think that maple run is - or was - stocked. Could be why you were the only one on it

Opened up in the SE last weekend. Opening day for the rest of the state is the 17th. We've had a split opening day in the state for 3 years now.

No great harm if you were catch and release. Maple Run is Approved Trout Water and was stocked March 23rd.

Haha thats funny, nice fish though.

I have found good fishing on Yellow Creek from the bottom of the fly project all the way to the posted water in Loysburg.
