Fished manada last night. Fished a lower section to see if I could get into some rock bass or smallies. Water temp was 72, I managed a few small rock bass an even brought a nice rainbow to hand. Saw quite a few golden bows, prolly 5-6, for them being a truly 'stocked' fish they seem to be takin the warmer water well.

It's at the point where I'm probably not gonna fish Manada until temps come down a bit. Amazing to have those stockies holding tight!

The upper section of Manada (above the big, slow hole at Eddie Rayer's or so) is pretty well canopied. I would be suprised if gets much over 70, possible though I guess with the hot weather coupled with low flows. I'd still think the upper reaches would probably be ok to fish.
From Phish's OP and the presence of Rock Bass and Smallies, I'd assume he was downstream from the mountain a bit, hence the warmer temp.
Haven't completely decided on my plan for tomorrow yet, but I'm considering hitting a couple streams up that way. If I'm in that neck of the woods I'll make a stop at the upper end of Manada and get a temp.

You can fish it whenever you want, I should have taken water temp before I started but I didn't. It seemed warm so I checked it.
When you catch and fight a trout in water temp over 70 degrees something about the lactic acid and low dissolved oxyen is very harmful of them. That's all. Now is the time to fish spring creeks.

Yes fighting trout in warm water is harmful to them. I landed the bow I caught within 30 sec. I was not expecting to catch trout, considering how far down I was. He was landed an returned, to me what seemed unharmed. But yes I do agree with keeping the trouting to a minimum when the water is warm.
