To follow up the thread in the general forum, I met up with "Troutpoop" today on Manada for a few hours of fishing. I had originally planned on parking along Furnace Rd and fishing up, but came across TP on the way to the road. So I parked, rigged up, and proceed to fish downstream of 443.

As mentioned, the water temp was 39, low, and clear. Just in the time since I was up last week, the water has dropped significantly. Here's hoping for some snow! The stream was very wadeable and the holes holding fish became very defined.

We had no wind, some sun, and little insect activity. Not enough to consider going topside. I fished a green weenie dropped with a Walt's Worm most of the time and it seemed to do fine. Some "high sticking" and I got lucky to get into some fish. Some of the takes were aggressive, others not so much.

TP and I fished downstream about halfway to Furnace Road where we met up with "Phish On" and "Idratherbephishing". We BS'ed for a bit, then went our separate ways. I believe they said they got into a few fish as well.

I'm 99% sure that TP caught the same brown I caught last week, from the same hole. I caught a nice 11" rainbow along with a spunky brown.

After TP left, I fished usptream of 443 for a bit and got into a few small streambred fish that I couldn't bring to hand. I worked about halfway up and came across a hole that had about a dozen fish stacked up like cordwood. I could literally walk right on top of them before they'd move. I threw a bunch of stuff at them, with no interest in eating. They were hugging bottom, in formation, so I knew they were in "winter mode". I know where they are, so tomorrow is another day.

Overall it was a good day to fish and another enjoyable trip to Manada for a few hours of fishing. I'm certainly enjoying "winter" fishing this year!

I need to call Buckeye Partners - their gas line is sticking out!

WG, TP is my fishing buddy and a lot of fun to fish and have a ****tail with. Nice report and I'm glad you guys had some luck.

Very nice. I should have gotten my license and joined you guys. Maybe next time.

Yup good day all around. I plan on fishing manada again next week. Dunno what day yet prolly more then one. I love that stream!

Nice report and fish guys. Glad you guys had a nice day out there and got into a few. Wish I coulda been there...had a nice day babysitting my nephew though...just about took his first steps today. Would have felt bad if he did it away from his parents.

Could also do a WW meetup on the Swatara some time this Summer too...assuming there's actually a time this Summer when it's at a fishable level!

Good report and nice pic's!

I've fished Manada for years, had to give it up, to hard for me to fish anymore with all the dead fall and other debris to climb over.

I can assure you that even for an able bodied person, getting over all the obstacles can be a challenge. Add some snowfall and/or wet wading boots on a cold day and things become interesting!

I love that creek.

Great report! Couldn't make it out as a lot came up over the weekend. Anyone gonna be out there this weekend?

If you make it out, shoot me a pm. I'll be out most of the day gonna start at furnace lane and work my way up to the gap

I might swing by the manada on the way home from fishing another stream saturday. If you see a charcoal crew cab ram thats me.

sounds good. I drive a grey Tacoma w/ a G-Loomis sticker on the back window
