Manada Creek, Dauphin Co 10/26/09

Fished Manada for the first time and caught three nice rainbows (all about 14 inches) and long released a few bigger ones and got broken off by a real big one.The Creek was up a bit and had a tinge of color, I was really suprised at how much bigger the fish are than the general size I catch at Clarks Creek.

I will say two things.....That is one snaggy Creek (lost about 6 flies underwater) and that is one hard Creek to walk along (there is deadfall everywhere). It seemed like there was a lot of very fast unfishable water and then some really deep holes (and I mean really deep, considering the width of the Creek.

I got most of my bites on Killer Bugs and Glo bugs (thanks for the advice Sal) . How is access up from the bridge that crosses 443, I drove up that way but didn't see many places to park.Also I didnt see any fish rising today is that normal fro this creek?

If anyone but Sal has fished it lately please let me hear how you got on , Ive become quite intrigued by this Creek and it was a nice change from Clarks.

Yes some of them holes are very large. For the most part though, when the water is normal, it can lack holding water for some distances. Either way it makes up for it for some huge ones.

My guess would be the fish are larger because it is NOT a FFO section but rather DHALO. Cater to the masses, anyways glad you had a good time. I wonder if the real big one you had snap you off was the one i lost also.

Good to see you found Manada, sure is a lot closer for you then Clarks. I see you found out about all the dead fall I was telling you about. I didn't make it out there this year because of that, just to tough fishing for me right now. Next spring hope we can make it out there, I have done well there early with a nice stone fly hatch.

Next time I talk to you, I'll tell you where you can park and fish the upper reg section!
