Had to work out of my main office up north but managed to fish in the late afternoons. The frosty nights kept the hatch off the water until about 3 PM each day when the water temps topped 50 but not much more. Water was clear.
It looks like I caught the tail end of the mainstem Hendricksons as there were some March Browns mixed in, rising fish would take either pattern. There were lots of popcorn caddis, but the fish largely ignored them. All the fish were caught out of my Jon boat in long eddies which is typical in cold early season water. Fish are fat, some of the browns misshapen with humped backs and big guts, I guess because there was no winter up there this year.
