It was overcast and a chilly 55 degrees, the water was about 50 degrees, water high (in the grass) but clear.
Didn’t hit the river till about 5 PM (work). I was greeted by what looked like fuzz on the entire surface of a 300’ wide river, made the hike down the muddy bank to a favorite high water spot where an eddy empties into a riffle. There were a couple of sizes of Hendricksons, Blue Quills, and a couple of different Caddis species.
The fishing started out tough until I switched to a size 12 ISO emerger fished partially submerged, the fish would pick the larger emerger out of the crowds of naturals.
I hooked some quality fish including one estimated 2’ brown that took me out into the shoot, with no way to follow I eventually broke him off. The fish were still going out in the main pool when I left at 7 PM.
Looks like more rain coming this weekend, let it come.
