I'm looking for suggestions for magnifiers to aid me in tying tie on my flies. My old glasses were good enough up until this year, but I'm struggling in ow light. Is there anything beyond the kind that flip down from your hat brim? Thanks

Were your old glasses prescription bifocals? If prescription but not bifocals, would bifocals help?

In regards to flip-down magnifiers, that's all I've been using for decades but unfortunately the best out there, Hat Eyes are no longer being manufactured although a FEW fly shops may still have inventory.

I always had trouble with hat magnifiers - just can't get focus right. I do better with reading glasses. Maybe try a higher power like 4X?

Get a pair of Clic Readers. I use them both for tying and when on the water. I could not get by without them. I also have thought about buying a pair for my office when I need reading glasses.

You need the correct working distance which isn't always available depending on the brand.

Hat Eyes are/were unique because they offered different powered lenses AND the lenses themselves could slide back on forth on the hat bracket to fine tune that working distance if necessary
