Loyalsock Creek, Sullivan Co. June 6-9 09'

Fished the Loyalsock on and off throughout the the week near Worlds End SP. Here's the trip in a nutshell. Lots of pretty rainbows, some small some big, beautiful stream with big cobbles big boulders and hard bottom. Haystacks area was great, had some very big bows in remote areas that required a lengthy hike, (chaffed). Some very rugged landscape stream is steap gradient lots of rapids, drops and riffles, and some deep deep holes. Water was very clear and the rainbows were willing to eat streamers all week. I really had to concentrate on getting down deep because fish only rose at dusk.

My buddy came up and surprised me by catching a nice fat bow on his 70's Johnson closed faced reel and an 80's Zebco fiberglass rod he uses for catfish. I had to laugh cause I lost a big one down stream from him and he huals one in on his old crappy setup and he ribbed me all day about it.

Caught one wild brookie on Double run, a cascading brook of very small size that went about five inches.

Other things that where noteworthy; A big black bear crossing the Loyalsock, the Canyon Vista, all the pictures of trapped bobcats, deer turkey and bear at the gas station in Forksville, waterfalls everywhere, High Knob, the Haystacks, all them chipmunks and red squirrels, Dutchman Falls, Dry Run falls, and just the expanse of state forest and gamelands in Sullivan County.

I grew up in columbia county. Its so beautiful up there and fishing is even better even if you dont catch a fish. Sound like you had a great time

Here are some pics of my trip, I'll try not to include to many. I took about 650 pictures while in Sullivan Co. Take note of my buddy Jeff with his redneck fishin mentality. He's more of a hunter than a fisher. But he knows how to catch em', just borrowed some of my buggers and threw some big splitshot on that ten pound catfish line. Lots and lots of great pics while I was there.

Oh, I couldn't leave out the pic of Rocky the Racoon. I forgot to take the trash to the dumpsters and was almost asleep watching the fire when he strolled up. I had the stream camera next to me and snapped a pic. He looked in my direction for a second and turned back and ripped a big hole in the bag. I yelled at it and it stood up and looked at me. Then it turned again to the bag and stuck another paw through the bag. I actually had to get up out of my folding chair to scare it off the porch.

And I added some pics.

Also, here is the swimming area and dam there is a nice deep hole outside of the swimming area. No fishing here of course. From the angle the pics were taken the water in the swimming area along the wall appeared to be about 5 or 6 feet. That was until I went swimming and found out it was more like 10 feet. The deep hole outside the swimming area has to be at least 15-20 feet deep. Very clear water. It was frigid. There were some nice rainbows in the swimming area. I could see them swimming about. I hook into a big one below the dam in some fast water and it lost it. Also saw some watersnakes they were red and black and tan, very colorful.

BTW, that is a full size 18 pound bag of Kingsford Charcoal next to Rocky the Racoon. I bet that thing stood over 30 inches.
