Lots of holdover trout in the special regs area of Loyalsock Creek. Was quite surprised with the amount of action on Saturday and Sunday. I fished the area in mid May and action was very hard to come by.

Time fished - 8:30 - Noon
Water - 60
Flow - Ideal
Color - slightly stained
Bugs - Little action, a few caddis here and there. No rising fish.
Successful Flies Used - lively leg stone, cased caddis, molting stone
Other anglers - zero on both days

The fish seem to like stone flies on “The Sock”. Wish I could have stayed longer.

FFed The Sock at Sandy Bottom for the first time yesterday. Decided to start upstream first and tried to hike up on the fire road out of the parking lot. Not far in I found it impassable due to all the trees that came down with IDA. Was able to bushwhack to the creek where I could make my way upstream. Water looked great but had no hits other than 1 small chub and saw no surface activity. Was using a duel nymph rig ... a size 16 Stonefly on top and a size 16 Perdigon on the bottom.

Made my way back to the parking lot and headed down to the boat launch area. Waded out to the middle of the creek where there was good underwater structure and caught 2 good size chubs there. Waded further down to a small island that had some great looking water and was able to catch 2 good sized Rainbows there. Beautiful river and was a nice day out.
