Time:11:00 am -6:30 pm
Flows: 110 cfs
Water temps:40-42
Air temps: mid 30's-mid 40's

I saw a decent number of midges and a few small black stoneflies throughout the day. However, there was zero surface activity even in the slow pools. I stuck with my go to winter savage river flies for the entire day, a black bugger with an egg behind it. Unlike the last time I fished the Savage(they were feeding in near still water) the fish seemed to be pretty active in the pockets. While I wouldn't say they were feeding in fast water it caught me by suprise they were eating in some quicker currents.. It always amazes me how just a couple degrees can completely change where and how the fish are feeding. I landed around a dozen, all browns, about half on the egg and half on the bugger. All the fish were in the 12-15 inch range, will post some pics once I get them off my camera.

Nice report.

Were you tired from lack of sleep?! 🙂

Sounds like a great day on the water and looking forward to the pictures. I was hoping to make it out there when I saw the flows drop back down but it wasn't in the cards unfortunately.

Nice fish Ryan.

The position of your tippet spool is funny in the last pic.

Great fish Ryan now I am feeling a trip to Savage may have to happen this upcoming weekend

Swattie, I aim to please 🙂, my tippet spools seems to always get some attention!
