Lower Middle Creek - Lancaster County - 6/1, 6/5, 6/8 2020

6/1/2020
Time: 6:30- dark
Water Temp: 61 degrees
Conditions: Super low and clear.

Lincoln Road:
Had moderate/heavy fishing pressure when I arrived. I fish were eager. I caught 4 on a quill body nymph. Fish were also rising to caddis and sulphurs.

Lime Rock Road:
First time stopping here and only fished for a few minutes several fish rising

Twin Bridges:
I didn't fish here but saw several risers when I dove past.

Rock Road
I caught a few either wild or hold over browns and an rainbow that looks like it was stocked and was finally starting to recover and have his nubs (fins) heal. I also caught a small LM Bass on a sulphur dry.

Time: 6:30- dark
Water Temp: 68 degrees
The water level was up a little bit and turbid. Recent rains and run off had I presume spiked the water temps
Very little notable bug activity.

Lincoln Road:
Had heavy fishing pressure when I arrived. The fishing was slow. I managed 3 and had a nice big brown come unbuttoned feet from the net.

Rock Road
I caught a few small browns.

Time: 6:30- dark
Water Temp: 61 degrees
The water level was pretty good with a decent color.

Lincoln Road (area):
Opening day level pressure someone fishing every 6ft. I don't know what it is but its like someone caught a fish and told all their buddies. I moved one and went down stream to parking below the Church of the Brethren. Lots of glides down there and pretty tight quarters. Fish where readily rising but I'm not sure to what. I fished a dry dropper with an ant. I rarely fish dries and typically skip glides but figured why not as I was mostly alone. I caught a nice brown on the ant and my first stream trout on a dry so that was cool. I also caught a creek chub on the ant. I moved on and found some pools with a small run at the head of the pool. I went back to nymphing a generic brown nymph I came up with and caught 5 more.


Rock Road:
I went to my usual little run here and pick up a really nicely covered up holdover or wild brown and another big 16" or so brown that looked to be a hold over.


I'm going back today 6/12 so more to come.

Nice report Nomad. The club often stocks twice and my guess is the increased pressure is due to a 2nd stocking.

Purple Wooly: Are you talking about Lititz Sportsman's club? I swear the Lincoln Road spots been stocked 4-5 times this spring. The Fish Commission said they were doing all preseason stocking but I don't think that's true? Where else does Lititz stock? They used to stock upper Middle but not sure they have lately.

I think the state stops at Lincoln Rd. The Lititz Sportsman I believe stock downstream to Middle Creek Rd. They usually stock Lititz Run just below the club for a kid’s derby also. They probably didn’t have the derby this year and had extra trout for MC. Just a guess.

There have been mobs of people at Lititz Run and Lincoln Road a number of times which to me indicates stocking. I guess it could be just be a couple nice days that everyone came out.

JeffP definitely caught a few that maybe wild. I have a picture of one recently that i have no doubt is wild. I have to figure out how to post pictures. Im so used to drag and drop photo posting that i forgot how to do it the hard way.

It took me a while too. I have a Mac. I just go to photos and drag to desktop and make both the size and resolution smaller. Under tools just pull down size and you can change the size and resolution. Usually taking the size down to 12 by 16 and the resolution down around 30 does it. Just choose file from the website, click upload and you have it. At least that's how it works for me.

I may get out to MC tomorrow in the morning. In early June there always seems an abundance of risers. They can be tough as they often times are taking really small stuff. I would say a size 16-18 BWO works the best. The nights have been cool so the trout should still be looking up. I really would like to document the number of wilds and take some temps through the summer. If you ever get some, shoot me a PM. Mike is looking into getting a stream survey done. It would be pretty cool to find out that there is a decent native population there. I have a feeling some people will be surprised.
