locust creek, schulkill co. 4/14/11

fished locust creek today for about 4-5 hrs. Air temp. was in the 60's but forgot to get water temp. Everytime I fish this stream it impresses me with the numbers of wild fish here, for such a small stream. Any how I picked up 3 wild browns from 7" to 12" and 13 native brookies 5" to 11". All of the fish were wild I hooked one larger trout that I think was a stockie. Some I got on bead head hares ear, but most were on a gold rib hares ear wet drifted through the riffles. I would have caught more but I wasn't having a good day and lost a half dozen grhe wets and ran out of them.

A fish every 12-15min is a good day in my book! 🙂

Not to mention an 11" native brookie! If you take out the limestoners, thats a once a season fish right there!

what I mean by not having a good day was that I was snagging all kinds of overhanging bushes and trees. It could have been better if I hadn't lost a dozen flies and burned through a spool of 5x. But other than that, the sun was shining, I quit my job the day before and I caught some fish. What more can you ask for?

I'm kinda a newbie to this forum but it sounds like you might be fishing a smaller creek that can't take a lot of pressure. Since any lurking ***** can read these posts you might want to consider not being so explicit about your success on an open forum. PM's are a better medium to discuss the gory details. Just my opinion.
