3/29, DHALO, Schuylkill County. Air temp 49, water temp 46. 11-2. Fished from lower bridge about 1/2 mile up with tandem nymph rigs..finally landed a brown and rainbow on Rainbow Warrior. Fished back down and landed 2 on olive wooly bugger. Had several others hit/lost.

Modest hatches of midges, stoneflies, small caddis, and some nice grey/olive mayflies about size 14...hendricksons? No risers observed. Water was a "steelhead" green tint, but clarity was fine.

Typical color for Schuylkill R and Ltl Schuylkill during the winter and very early spring...most likely produced by suspended clay or other particulates associated with past mining refracting the light. That color often exists as far downstream as Reading, but it seems to disappear or is masked by sometime in later spring in the main river in Berks Co. and even the lower Ltl Schuylkill at some point. It never seems to disappear from the West Branch or upper main Schuylkill.
