Just a heads up to anyone planning on fishing the LS special regs area: Oil Creek TU is going to begin working on a habit/stream bank stabilization project this week. The focus of the project is the pool just above the railroad bridge. Based on what I was told by a TU member today, a series of deflectors and cribbing will be added to shore up the crumbling bank, and reduce the sedimentation on the opposite bank.
They are expecting some disruption in the fishing (muddy, stained water). However, the installation is only supposed to take about a week. Also, TU is hoping to be able to have a few more habitat improvement projects started in the near future. We need to get behind them! Little Sandy needs some help, particularly in the special regs area. This stream has a ton of potential!
There are still a lot of fish in the creek and water temps are great as usual. All the areas that normally hold fish still have them. Saw some Blue Quill spinners today and had a great day of dry fly fishing. A parachute Adams worked well on the rising fish and also picked up a few on isonychia nymphs.
