On my way home from Erie I stopped to try the FFO section on Little Sandy Creek in Venango County for my first time.
I fished from 10-2pm. Water was a chilly 49, clear, and judging by the banks low. I didn’t notice any bugs. However, I did watch one rainbow taking something on top…not sure what though. For me, some of the casting was a little challenging due to the clear water and brush that covered some of the deeper holes. But my persistence paid off and I did catch a few rainbows and a very nice brown trout on a brown wooly bugger. I also used streamers with some success. I found they work better in water and not hung up in trees 🙂 I was glad I took the ride to explore some of this nice water. The peace and solitude was a great change from fishing in Erie and just a great day to be outside.
