FFO section

Time Fished: 10am - 145pm

Weather Conditions: 78 degrees, cloudy

Water Conditions: 61 degrees, Clear

Insects: none

Two of us fished nymphs, streamers and dries and had no strikes. We saw 1 consistently rising fish in the kiddie pool and a very large palomino at the bottom of the pool. I think this hole is loaded with fish.

Other fisherman tried to talk us into using Al’s Rat (Al Miller’s concoction). I’ve never fished a fly that small but I understand even the big fish eat them. That’s a foreign concept to us Western PA guys that throw big stuff at stocked fish.

FFO section

Time Fished: 755pm - 915pm

Weather Conditions: 83 degrees and overcast. Rained for about a minute

Water Conditions: 62 degrees, Clear

Insects: none seen but there were some rises

There were sporadic rises by fish in 2 different pools, about 5 fish per hole. My father caught the fish of the trip. A hefty brown pushing 20 inches on a mayfly dun in the kiddie pool. He was there with my son. I went to the stretch about 100 yds below but I didn’t fish. A fellow was there just watching for rising to increase before he started fishing, I think his name was Ray. Had a great conversation with him but he was there first and I had no plans to step in. So we both left without wetting a line. The bad part was I missed getting a picture of the big brown.

It was disturbing that 3 guys came to the parking lot by Al’s and Jim’s plaques. We had just finished rigging up when they got out with one spinning rod between them. They stood on the little casting deck near one of the special reg signs. So I called one over and showed him that spinning rods weren’t allowed. They all came over and read it but said “I’ve fished here before and no one has said anything”. They stayed until dark.

The brookies, in the nursery waters above the FFO, looked really nice. My son had to work on Friday so I sent him the picture below and said we found a stream that is just loaded with brookies. He was always so trusting. They got a lot of people through the nursery on Friday. That's a pretty nice showcase for the general public.

There are some real nice Browns in the nursery,I wish they would stock them in the LL during this summer as the water level is great, then maybe they would be spawning holdovers🙂
