Little Lehigh - Lehigh County, 8/4/15

i fished thr LL August 4. Arrived on stream around 11:00. Too late for the trico hatch. Water clear (limestone tint). Very few fish rising. Water temp 70-71 degrees. Late afternoon a light hatch came off but I could not identify it except for light colored body and did no appear to be mayfly. I managed to hook one on a zebra midge and turn another on a hopper (#12).

Met up J55tygrr and watched him expertly fish a streamer in low clear water and land 3 hefty rainbows from one pool.


At least I was not in the office.

Salmo, was the water temp 70-71 degress or the air temp? Just curious because I always thought the LL stays cooler through the summer than some other local SE PA freestoners as it has a limestone influence. Maybe I am mistaken.

The air temp was in the 80s. The water temp was 70-71 degrees on my stream thermometer. It is possible the thermometer is off. Maybe others can weigh in on this. By the way can anybody identify the hatch?

Salmo it was nice fishing and chatting with you. I took a temp at our last spot and it was kissing the 70 mark. "Expertly" = luck.

It seems a bit warm for an 85 degree day, the overnight air temp was low 60's. The LL usually only gets into the 70's during 90 degree days.

I fished it on the way to the Brodhead last Sat. Air temp was low eighties; water was 66 middle (about 3pm) of a bright sunny day. Water was low and fishing was slow. Caught a couple and then headed up to the Brodhead which was warmer but fishing a lot better!
