Little Lehigh, Lehigh County 8/22-09

Got to the stream around 6:30 am. Started fishing above the fish hatchery Still raining lightly. Water was dirty, but not chocolate milk, so I started off with a Woolly Bugger, had a miss, and then nothing for about 45 mins. Decided to scale down a bit and went with a tandem setup of bdfbpt and a grey scud. Nymphed till about noon picking about around 8 fish with several others getting off, mixed wild brown and rainbows. Caught a beautiful wild brown, about 13 inches, tried to snap a picture, but got away from me. The rainbows were good size, and possibly holdovers. Things started to dry up around 12pm. Tricos made an appearance but the numbers were small, and no fish were rising.

At twelve the action had slowed and I was getting hungry, so I got some breakfast, and after headed back to the stream. Started at the iron bridge and worked up towards the police academy. Changed my setup to a scud and a zebra midge. First run Im into a nice rainbow; taking the zebra midge. After that action slowed down, and got two more small browns. This was my most successful day fishing, and finally broke into double digits (although not all were landed). What looked to be a crappy day cause of rain turned into a great day. Got a picture of one of the rainbows, not sure if it was a hold over, but it had some nice color to it, and fought well.

Nice report. I think you'll find that those "crappy" weather days are going to give you your best fishing, especially this time of year. If you get a cooler overcast day with/without rain in August that is when you want to be out.

Thanks for the feed back guys. I know it helped me a ton to here how fish were being caught and in what conditions. I learned more from this website than I have reading all the FF books I own. I can only hope that someone new to fly fishing is reading this and it helps them catch a fish.

I sure hope that little paragraph didn't bother you. Your FRIENDS know it was flat out wrong (and ignorant, as well).

Perhaps those people mistook your enthusiasm for ego. Their loss.

I dont think Dave was saying I have an ego, but that some peoples egos get in the way from learning from others post...atleast i hope thats what he meant, haha. Im not good enought yet to have an ego. One day maybe ;-)

Hi Andy - Dave was referring to this thread (last post).

I can't even imagine anyone saying anything bad about you. As you can tell from Dave's post, he obviously thinks highly of you as well.

Don't sell your skills short - you're smart enough to want to improve yourself. and the results speak volumes.

Andy, I was referring to a post that stated that MY ego gets in my way. Oh well, I was slammed but at least the article got a good review.

Wasnt privy to that post, now that I read it I understand, haha. Dont listen to what critics say, you helped five guys cast better with 5 mins of instruction each, pretty impressive in my book.
