On this day my two hobbies, fly fishing and running, briefly intersected.
First, the Little Lehigh was unfishable this morning due to over one inch of rain in the area overnight. It was high and the color of coffee with cream.
Second, I ran the 7.7 mile trail race in the Parkway and it included a crossing of the Little Lehigh at about the halfway mark. It was pretty refreshing after the hill climbs, and they had a guy posted downstream to help out a few runners who lost their footing and were briefly swept down stream in the heavy current. I managed to keep my feet and plow through. I did notice a decent trico hatch dancing over the water and tried to avoid sucking any of them in as I ran beneath.
If you can't fish, you might as well run. I also did a trail race in Birdsboro last year called "Hit the Hay", which crossed Hay Creek four times. That makes for an interesting run.
