They work on all of the limers in central PA, as well as SE limers like valley.

Spring and valley are both c&r, and both get absolutely pounded.

I almost don't even think I have any globugs in my box, but I am sure they would work.

Also, I've been at it about ten years.

I'd be happy to meet you. I love to meet the crotchety old know it alls that constantly sacrifice the ability to catch fish in order to live up to some stupid personal standards. 🙂

If you're curious why they work, trout will often take pebbles, bubbles, bug shucks, leaves, etc and reject it pretty quickly. It's pretty easy to set the hook before they do. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer. :-D

I should add that I have been unable to match my friend's numbers on spring. He uses a bead. The drift that it gets is fantastic. I'm pretty sure he could catch them on cigarette butts with the thing.

And let me guess, you plan to float them 18 inches off the hook of a #12 Patriot Dry fly and “OH you’ll never forget the time you were fishing this combo on -insert stream name here- on August back in 1980 with -name drop local fly shop owner here- and you two caught and released 90 trout… 25 of which took the Patriot.”

Ten years… my waders are older than that. :-D

No, I plan to find a single fish, sight fish for it with a globug, catch it, then go fish more enjoyable methods. Actually, I don't plan on fishing the stream at all, as I'd have to cross a few others to get there.

Like I said before, they mouth and reject TONS of non-food items, and it's not hard to get them to take a globug.

Sorry, but anyone that makes blanket statements with "always" or "never" about fishing (like you did) is usually wrong.

Not saying I'd clean up, but I'm pretty sure it's possible to sting one or two. You don't care to admit that as a truth?

I know it hurts to have someone younger, thus completely undeserving of your respect, make a point that you don't like, but it doesn't merit the attitude. My position here is pretty solid.

What makes you "dizzy"? Spinning around too much to try to pat yourself on the back?

I’ll be right there next to you then… pulling them out two at a time on tandem Green Weenies. I don’t plan on doing that either… but man, I can PICTURE it happening.

You are a walking fallacy. How does it feel to be an idiot? I hope you're not in pain. Someone that makes a "never" claim about the habits of an entire population of trout in a stream certainly must be one. You wouldn't do that, would you?

Address my claim that trout mouth and reject simple objects from sticks to bubbles to pebbles before we continue. At that point, we'll discuss whether fish spawn in the stream. Those trout certainly wouldn't lower themselves to eating eggs... no way.

Sorry, I don't usually fall for the alpha male tactics. I've got no interest in your "man up" challenge, though I'd really like to know whether those fish would eat an egg. It's not like they are predisposed to do so through by instinct or anything. We certainly would be disappointed if that hampered our fish tales and sense of home stream pride. Keep personifying the fish. Maybe they'll make friends with you!

It's ok. Valley is my home stream. I don't tell anyone that they eat junk flies. It's far too embarrassing.

Wow what a heated convo.

If anyone is still listening...I primarily fish 6x but in Flouro. And very rarely see the need for 7x. The only time I might use 7x is for tricos on the LL.
I find that the flouro eliminated the need for lighter tippet and is well worth the $$.

I don't listen to anything they say at the LL flyshop. This thread has gotten dirty enough so I won't sling any more mud.

Do your own thing...spend time figuring it out on your own and it will pay off.
