Fished in the fly fishing section at the hatchery yesterday. Lots of people out, I was surprised that there weren't that many anglers with the complete lack of parking, most people were just out for a walk. I did some half hearted nymph fishing, but really didn't put any effort into it before plopping down on the bank hoping for some surface activity. Around 3:30 pm there was a light caddis hatch and a scant amount of olives. Saw a few fish start rising sporadically and decided it was going to be a fish topwater or none at all for me. Tied on a #16 tan CDC caddis and after about 20 mins I either missed the fish or it refused right at the last second, but at least he rose for it. moved up stream and found a couple more risers, again sporadic, lost my caddis after another miss/refusal and put on a #18 BWO a brown casme up hard on it after a bunch of casts. I didn't set the hook bt the line was tight, when I got it in close it looked like it was hooked in the dorsal. Wrapped up soon after that and checked out some f the closed water above the fly fishing section saw some caddis but didn't see any fish activity.
