Little Lehigh, Lehigh County, 3/22/2011

Fished the Little Lehigh yesterday from 9-10:30AM. Air temperature was low 40's, do not know what the water temperature was at the time. The water had a greenish tint to it and was flowing higher than usual. I was hoping to get into some big fish by swinging streamers in the off-colored water. Fishing pressure was light, only saw two other fishermen at the wall by the hatchery. I did not see any fish rising nor did I see any insect activity on the surface of the creek. I managed one small, wild brown (8" in length) swinging a black size 6 bouface on 4x tippet.

I am always amazed when small trout hit big streamers. I always end up mumbling something like, "What were you thinking?" It also makes you wonder how young or small they become predaceous.

Anyway, thanks for the report. It has been a few weeks, hope to get back up there soon.

just a sugeestion but you may want to put 3x on for the method above....the hog youre looking for may just snap the 4x. its happened to me...

Sholgate, I too am amazed at the size of the flies some of the smaller browns and even brook trout will hit. Govtmule, thanks for the advice. It has been a couple years since I have seen any hogs in there but I am sure they are still around. Swinging streamers on 4x is playing with fire when big, aggressive trout are invovled.
