Little Lehigh, Lehigh County 11-20-09

Trekked up to the LL with Raff today. Air temp ranged from ~50 at the start to ~60 later in the day. Water temp was low 50s and the flows were normal to low and a little off color. Started out at the lower end of the FFO section and covered the full 1.5 miles. We took a few rainbows in the morning, primarily on sucker spawn and glo bug patterns. The fish were not interested in anything else. We observed sparse Baetis, Caddis and Midge activity but did not see any rising fish nor did we see any Redds. We moved over to the Heritage section for the rest of the afternoon. We moved a few with the nymphs but got more action on streamers at the end of the day (gasp - streamers in the Heritage section???). I took a 12 inch brookie on a small articulated streamer to close out the day that was pretty exciting.

Ive had large trout in the LL snap me off in the winter months because they hit streamers so dang hard.

Hey trow you get out to that gem again yet? Im due for a trip in the next few weeks. Im thinking it might be a go 🙂

Sal - yes - i've had some LL fish snap me off right at the hit too. Aggressive takes! Really got my heart beating. I try not to think about what size they might have been...

As for that other "gem", I have not been back up since, but Corey has and did some more exploration. I'm definitely game to join you if you take a trip - just let me know when!

H.A. - LMFAO - sadly, there are times when even the almighty BHPT fails me and I need to try other things. (not often mind you...)

The BHPT might as well have been a sinker. The trouts had no use for the BHPT today.. >:

LMAO - H.A. I convinced trow to tie up some BHPN for this other stream I took him to. He called me after fooling with a couple and sounded like he was gonna choke me!!!!

Variety is the spice of life right.

for the record LL - i DID end up tying some pretty darn nice BHPN if i do say so myself! (just took me a while to get the hang of those darn biots. But for all that work I didn't catch $$#$ with them).

And...also for the record - i fished the lackawanna today - went 2 for 3 in an hour. ALL on the almighty BHPT. 😛 so there. 🙂

BHPT and scuds forever! I think i should go to bed now....

No not yet, however i got a verbal pass for Thanksgiving weekend.....ill be up in the Scranton area wild trout fishing and i got one for a trip the the Lehigh area in early December. 🙂
