Little Lehigh, Lehigh County 10/17/2009

Fished from 730 till about 10am behind camp Olympic and along keystone ave. Conditions were pretty miserable today. Rained all morning and was about 37 degrees. First run i fished i fouled hooked a stocked brown and picked up a nice wild brown, (first pic) on a grey scud dropper. I had it rigged to a copper john. I think the stockie took the john cause it got foul hooked on the scud. I ended up foul hooking another stocked brown near the small bridge behind camp Olympic. Also picked up and lost a few more browns along Keystone Ave. I expected the water level to be higher than it was, surprisingly the water was very clear, not the best nymphing conditions IMO. Sorry the pics were not the best, my hands pretty much lost all feeling. Tight lines everyone.

I may be wrong but both of the fish in the pics look wild, but it is hard to tell.

They look wild to me too. I've caught more wild fish on the LL this year than any year in the recent past.

I know a lot of anglers enjoy fishing for and keeping stocked fish on the LL, but just think what the stream could be if stocking ceased and harvest was limited and some stream improvements were made. There really are not a lot of streams this size that are able to produce and hold wild fish in eastern PA.

Both of those fish were wild, i rarely take pictures of stockies, unless they are big. Both those fish were successfully returned to the water, and swam away quickly.
