I fished in and around the old heritage section from 12PM to 4:30PM. When I got there, I knew that my normal high stick nymphing with a colored sighter wasn't going to work because of the windy conditions. I decided to fish a nymph suspended under a thingamabobber. This technique doesn't get affected by the wind as much.
I noticed that sulfurs were hatching sporadically, so I decided to put on a beadhead pheasant tail nymph. After a short while, I caught two stocky Rainbows just below the I78 overpass. I then worked my way downstream and managed to catch another rainbow at the lower end of the C&R section. After that I decided to go down below the covered bridge and fish the first set of riffles. In that section I hooked four more rainbows.
Even though a landed a good number of fish, I was disappointed because I hadn't hooked any wild browns. Wanting to catch a wild fish, I decided to head back upstream. Finally, I landed a small wild brown trout in one of the riffles downstream of the wall that people like to fish off of. I ended up landing six or seven rainbows and one wild brown. If catching way more stocked fish than wild fish is the new norm for the little lehigh, then I am not going to be fishing this stream much in the future. Catching a bunch of stockies doesn't do much for me.
