Got to fish the Little Lehigh off of fish Hatchery road (below the bridge at the fly shop) both Saturday and Sunday morning. Good Trico hatches both days from about 0730 till 1000. Got nothing but refusals until I switched to an 8x tippet and 24’s. Those fish were much harder to fool than the ones at Spring Creek or the Breechers, but all and all had a GREAT week with a couple dozen trout, the biggest being a little over 16”.
Love being retired !
Gonna’ try some white flys and hex’es on the Juniata or Susquehanna this week.

Fished that area Saturday morning. I learned to give up on Tricos after the second week they appeared. They get smart real fast and refuse most standard trico patterns. I did meet one guy last year with a unique pattern that seemed to work well troughout the season. He tied a slightly fatter body using dark brown thread and hackle wings. I did manage to land three rainbows just prior to the trico hatch with #18 small nymphs. Later in the day I drove along Penns Creek and got a look at the low, warm water. made me realize how nice the water on the LL was for this time of year.
