I fished from about 4:00pm until 8:00pm. The water was slightly cloudy but not too bad. There were already people in my 2 favorite spots so I had to fish other water I usually don't. But will from now on. Thanks for being there whoever you were. You made me fish water I usually walk right past but as I found out, will not anymore because it holds plenty of trout.
There were small black caddis above the water but only in certain areas. I saw a few mayflies, sulfers I think, some BWOs and craneflies but not too much else. There were a handful of rising trout but none were consistantly rising.
I caught 15 or so, all on nymphs. It was a pretty even mix of bows and browns. A few of the bows were in the 13"-15" range. Only 2 fish were caught on a copper john the rest were on a beadhead baetis.
The last few times I've been to the LL, I've seen spin fishermen casting for a couple minutes then leave. I've never been much of a bait or spinner guy so I ask those who have been, is this normal? With so much water to fish it seems like a waste of time to me. They only fish the bridge then leave. Believe me, I'm quite fine with that. There is really good water they never touch and leave to me.
