Little Lehigh, 11/03

Fished some of the fly water upstream of the heritage section with Ian. Was only a short trip, what with his twins and my senior project/job. Got there around 3:30 and walked the banks looking for life. Water was cold, slow, and gin clear. Never fished this section before, and wasn't overly impressed. It still merits some further exploration though.

Spotted a few trout here and there, and managed to carefully put a bugger in front of them. Ended up landing two and had many refusals. Fish were very spooky. Olive and black with a tiny split shot was the key.

Saw some nice fish. None wanted to play. Overall, it was good to get out on the last long day of the year.

Jay thanks for the update. I'm gonna fish up there in the next couple of weekends to get a change of scenery.

I stopped by the LL on Saturday. Had an hour to kill waiting for my son's band performance so I dropped over. Landed one nice rainbow on an olive bugger. I did see a number of brownies spawning.

Do some more exploring, there is some very nice water with alot of wild fish in the upper fly fishing only section. I personally think its 10x as better then the heritage section.

One of the attractions to the Heritage section is the combination of no wading and mowed banks. It's nice if you only have a short time to fish. I will have to check the upper section out next trip I have a few hours.

Much of the water I fished had mowed banks to within four or five feet of the water's edge. At this point, there were reeds and the occasional bush or tree. It would definitely be fishable without waders, but I prefer to wear them for ease of landing fish and crossing when necessary.
