Fished the LL above the covered bridge today from 11am until about 2pm. Nice and clear with temps in the mid 60s. Didn't see any hatches, but did pick up 3 rainbows and a brown on midges. I had a real nice rainbow, about 18 inches, on three times, but couldn't land him. Jumped about 3 feet out of the stream one time, and gave me a nice look another time before shaking himself off the midge. I was using tandem of one blue and one purple #18-20, bead head, tied with krystal flash and a hare's ear thorax. Gonna have to tie some more of those, lol. Hope to return on Wednesday this week. Nice to have some cool water and some action in this heat. 😎

That's interesting you mentioned the blue and purple nymphs. I had some success on the LL with a blue Copper John. Really just put it on as a point fly to add weight but it worked.

I was by the LL on Sunday but some guy left his dogs run in the stream just above me. A number of frightened fish blasted through the run I was fishing and that put everything down. Flow seemed way down from my previous trip. Very slow in Heritage section. My Orvis WF line was absorbing water and sinking. So I bagged the fishing and went to Cabelas. Maybe the rain today will help.

I was there above and below the covered bridge last thursday. The stream was inundated with fresh stocked fingerling browns. When I managed to keep them from my #18 cinnamon ant I caught 7 or 8 nice wild browns. There was a hatch on nearly the entire time I was there, looked like small white size 18 or 20 midges. I tried a small grey wulf and got a couple of takes but no hookups.

I was thinking of heading up to Little Lehigh at the of this week. I always wanted to stop at the fly shop there. I've never fished it before. Any suggestions on where to fish in there?

Is it fishable from the shore or should I bring my waders?

No need to wade...just some creative casting at times.

Part of it is no wade. But the lower section is wadeable and there are natives/holdovers above and below the FF section. Bring the waders just in case. In some stretches the bridges are a bit apart so having waders makes crossing easier.

Thanks guys for the tips. I did head up there on Friday and got 1 trout. Saw tons of them and some swam towards my flies only to swim away at the last second.

One question though, when I was leaving, I saw a large parking lots next to the bridge upstream. Is that public parking and are there trout wabeable upstream from that bridge? I believe upstream goes into the golf course?

Yeah, there are fish upstream and downstream of the Heritage Angling Area. Wading is also permitted. The fish aren't as numerous as in the fly stretch, but they are there, and it's an easy way to escape the crowds. There's good water in both directions. The golf course is maybe a mile or mile and a half upstream, and there's good fishable water before that. I think it's Keystone Rd. that follows the creek upstream, there's an Iron grate bridge just before the golf course.
