Made the run up to Little Juniata River for the afternoon on Sunday. Really beautiful day with air temps in the mid 70's and mostly sunny skies. Water temp was 55 degrees. Normal flow for this time of year as it really has rained a lot recently.
I started down in near Alexandria just off Rt 305. It was kinda of slow as it was mid-day. A few caddis coming off.
Moved up past Spruce Creek about 2:00. Found a stretch of water that had a lot of risers and proceeded to dial in the correct caddis fly that they would take. Took me a while but a smaller dark caddis with a trailing shuck seemed to be the ticket. Landed several really nice browns until one really big one took my fly. Of course the only one with that color shuck. Switched to another dark caddis without the shuck and a little luck, but the trout shut down shortly afterwards. No real mayfly hatches to speak of and ended leaving around 6:00 pm.
A really nice day out and some very nice size browns. A lot of boaters and plenty of other anglers on the water.
